Chaco Canyon meets mid century modern. Completed in 2012, this live/work layout is the home and studio of renowned sculptor Kevin Box and his wife Jennifer. The siting and concept of the building follows through with master planning done by the Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture in 2007. Sustainable features of the home and studio include: passive solar design, low to no maintenance exterior finishes, energy star appliances and windows, thermal mass interior walls, geothermal heating and cooling, blown in recycled newspaper insulation, 100% wastewater re-use through pummice wick irrigation, rain water catchment, low voltage, natural daylighting and more. The building is set among a dramatic landscape of rock formations along the edge of the Galisteo Basin known as the Garden of the Gods. Limestone and sandstone rocks soaring up to 50 ft. tall surround the building creating dramatic views. A six acre sculpture garden with winding trails provide intimate access to this dramatic landscape.
